RAW FOOD, VEGAN FOOD AND ANY OTHER TYPE OF FOOD OBSESSIONS
WHERE IS THE LINE OF .... SANITY
There's a growing body of people identifying themselves as vegans, raw foodists and other types of vegetable eaters of the sort- so far so good. To each their own. It's interesting and somehow disturbing to observe the levels of fanaticism and lack of understanding that some of these people actually have. The scary part? They are not satisfied with living their "healthy" lifestyle, but they want to promote it and get other people into thinking that "converting" into the Raw food religion is going to be the panacea to all problems and is actually good for you.
Promoting this to young children and teenagers, who in the most cases are very sensitive to influences and lack the necessary critical thinking and knowledge that can drive them to the right choices should be illegal. Some of these people are really fanatics about what they say- but does that make it right?
For the most part some of the people promoting the raw food lifestyle are people who need serious help- because of the amount of attention and dedication that they preoccupy their minds with in relation to food. I imply no judgement on this statement- drug addicts need help too- but there's no excuse when they try too hook up more people on the addiction. The food fixation and the labeling of the food as being the only source of problems and the only cure leads to a compensatory mechanism and creating a scary absurd lifestyle with abnormal compulsions and obsessions about food, which is very unhealthy- Physiologically, Psychologically and for the whole Society. Bear in mind that most individuals who go on special extravagant diets just to feel significant- are victims of serious psychological complexes.
Why raw vegan foodism may work in the beginning, but damage you in the long run?
We as humans have all sorts of issues. Unless we address and resolve them they become a burden in our lives and we seek all types of addictions to release the pain- evidently even "healthy" ones. Someone who has their "eyes opened" to the raw foodism- claiming it to do miracles to the individual now has a project- to become a vegan. Now all attention is removed from the other issues and the main one becomes the food. Initially this may release some of the tension these people have- because they have the delusional sense of control over everything in their lives, and the delusion that they've found the key. To many of them food serves as a very convenient explanation for all problems- you are not vegan- that's why you feel this or that and can't do this or that. So we take off all the responsibility from ourselves and we transfer it to the food. This unhealthy relationship with food can escalate to levels that can seriously harm the individual on every level of their health- but can do also something even Worse- harm the family of the individual, by imposing and enforcing these extreme eating habits onto the individual. Just look at the "Healthy food junkies documentary" RAW FOOD DOCUMENTARY and it will provide a dimension of reality to your perspective for sure.
Often times raw vegans are delusional in their perception of food (and the world- having delusions that people who eat eggs and cheese are the enemy) and say that their eating habits are "natural" and the unnatural is the fast food hamburger. So to justify their ways- they take the worst out of the society habits and oppose their "healthy" extreme to an unhealthy extreme. When we speak about healthy eating how can we exclude eggs, yogurt, fish and so many other essential products needed for our health? Some raw eaters call this type of food "crap", which on its own describes their delusion, ignorance and highly brainwashed attitude.
Raw foodism is continuously presented as being super healthy by all sorts of self-pronounced gurus and celebrities. Sadly, a lot of people don't realize the permanent damages and effects that this type of diet can cause to our body and central nervous system. Deficiency of B12 and Omega 3 is only among the few severe side effects that this type of diet can cause. A huge problem with this lifestyle is that it is often promoted by NON experts and people who talk about the "AMAZING" effects of the diet- but these people don't know about biochemistry, about long term effects of malnutrition- because the effects are visible after years and not right away. No evidence- no studies- no follow up studies for the actual long term effects- in fact many cases of terrified and physically damaged people show exactly the opposite of what the advocates of the diet claim its effects are. I don't want to see one person- or 10 people who ate raw for 10 years (or claim to have done so). I want to see a real representative sample of people over a significant period of time- confirming that this lifestyle is safe for the physiological, psychological, social and reproductive health of the people.
The solution COMMON SENSE
This is the body of a grass eating animal
And this is the body of a meat eating animal...actually the fastest animal on the planet, which is considerably smarter than its buddy upstairs. Just sayin'!
If we need to see who's the healthiest- go and see what are the countries with the longest life expectancy- is as simple as that. Are they vegans? Are they raw food eaters?
Do your research. In addition it is important to open a real book- medical book- not by a preoccupied person on a vegan diet, who gives everything to convince others how good it is for you to starve yourself on vegetables. Ask a real specialist- a doctor- about what are some of the Crucial elements our body can't go without- and what are the foods and sources that can supply them to us. To understand what we need to consume- we need to understand biochemistry. A lot of raw foodist have a very shallow and superficial knowledge about the body and how it absorbs and extracts nutrients from the food. It is not only how much vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbs, glucose etc. we took- but also how much of it our body actually can absorb. In other words it is not only what a food contains, but also how it's absorbed. For instance some of the modern diets promote no fat in the diet- yes but fat help the absorption of vitamins. The safe way to go is- common sense- ask the one that knows and has experience.
1. The healthy Woman and the Healthy Men
Most of the women who are vegans loose their healthy body fat rates- we need the HEALTHY percentages of body fat in order to function properly physiologically and psychologically. That's why women who deprive themselves on that regime loose their menstruation- the body goes on an alarming survival mode and it's not functioning properly.
In short- we don't need to look like starved teenage boys- when we're women. Moreover, it would be healthy to stop telling ourselves the story that this is beautiful!
2. Alarm- when your menstruation stops- this is not a good sign! Ask your physician, not the Youtube person, who may suffer from sever psychological disturbances and is striving to improve their business and to attract attention! Don't get hooked- before weighting all arguments!Women should have menstruation- loosing it is interrupting a whole cycle of the healthy renewal of the reproductive system! Ask any EXPERT! Beware some of the self-proclaimed "experts" in the field may tell you that loosing your menstruation, or other changes in your body are "good for you". Consult yourself with a real, proper licensed doctor before getting too certain.
3. Sanity wanted
Please, if you are considering this lifestyle look at it objectively- do your research and do it also outside of these communities- because they've become like sects and cults who try to attract more and more people in- exactly like all dangerous groups do. Hear the other side of the story- from non-insiders in the raw food community and weight your arguments, which to the most part act like disturbed maniacs who get defensive in the face of obvious facts and get aggressive towards "outsiders" of their food Cult, while at the same time don't keep their habits to themselves, but just like drug dealers, spend huge amounts of energy and time to get other people into these ways. Moderation and balance are essential. Whoever is promoting extremes- be cautious- because extreme behavior may have extreme outcomes.
Finally I like the philosophy- "I eat to live, I don't live to eat! Get yourself busy with more important stuff!
At the end of the day- the choice is yours!
